The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.
Ahpra’s Regulatory Operations Directorate ensure only practitioners who have the skills and qualifications to provide safe care to the Australian community are registered to practise their profession. We also manage notifications about a practitioner’s conduct, performance and/or health that may impact public safety and where applicable, follow up on any conditions imposed to maintain trust and integrity in our Healthcare system.
We are seeking highly motivated applicants to tell us about the skills, experience, and qualifications they can bring to Ahpra by submitting a general expression of interest for employment opportunities as a Regulatory Officer across our Regulatory Operations directorate. Ongoing and non-ongoing (fixed term) opportunities may be offered on a full-time basis depending on business requirements.

We look for people who:
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with experience in dealing with internal and external stakeholders
- Make evidence-based recommendations and/or decisions and maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Are accountable and embody our values of Respect, Integrity, Collaboration and Achievement
- Have the skills and ability to work within a complex administrative environment preferably with case management support. This includes well-developed organisational skills including excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise.
- Have experience in providing support across a range of administrative activities including but not limited to telephony, correspondence, document and file management, and data entry.
Within these roles, some of the work you can expect is to:
- Assess health practitioner applications in accordance with guidelines and standards for registration.
- Respond to enquiries, manage correspondence and prepare documents as part of a case management process for complaints and compliance monitoring.
- Provide strong customer service and an effective phone service for the public and health practitioners engaging with us.
- Regularly communicate with external stakeholders to provide assistance, obtain information and provide informative updates.
- Readily review and analyse documents and data to assess registration applications, support investigations and monitoring
