The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) is the national agency responsible for administering the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (National Scheme) in partnership with 15 National Boards for the regulated health professions.
This is a full-time permanent opportunity that is based in Melbourne working a hybrid (2 office days) arrangement.
About the Role
The IT Security Architect is central to shaping and evaluating Ahpra’s security strategy, architecture, and practices. This role involves driving secure by design principles across all stages of the design lifecycle, from inception to project delivery to ensure that standards, patterns and solutions delivered across Ahpra are secure, fit for purpose and don’t introduce undue risk to the organisation.
Collaborating closely with the program manager cyber security, information security manager cybersecurity, project teams, IT SMEs, vendors, managed service providers, and business stakeholders, the IT Security Architect provides consultation, guidance, and oversight to ensure the secure design of both strategic and operational initiatives in alignment with enterprise security architecture and within an overall enterprise architecture framework.
Reporting directly to the National Director, Information & Cybersecurity, the role plays a key part in delivering Ahpra’s Cybersecurity Strategy and transformation initiatives by converting business objectives and risk management strategies into security patterns and processes supported by advanced security technologies and services. Leading a team of security specialists and business analysts, the IT Security Architect will uplift the security architecture function, improve secure by design approach, offer expert advice, technical leadership, and maintains Ahpra's cybersecurity architectural framework to protect and enhance the organisation's digital landscape.
About you
With demonstrated professional experience as an IT Security Architect across various industries, you bring a broad and deep understanding of security best practices. You will have strong leadership skills and have effectively developed and managed security architecture practises, developed security patterns and architectural artefacts, guiding teams in implementing secure solutions. Your will have extensive experience across 2 or more domains e.g. cloud security (IaaS) & on-premise, infrastructure security, Identity and Access Management (IAM), Integrations (Mulesoft), salesforce and application security.
You have direct, practical experience with vulnerability management tools and a solid working knowledge of threat-modelling exercises for new applications and services. Your full-stack knowledge of IT infrastructure, combined with direct experience designing IAM technologies and services, allows you to develop secure, comprehensive solutions.
Exceptional communication skills will enable you to liaise, negotiate, consult, and present to a wide range of stakeholders, ensuring that security strategies align with business needs while managing expectations and fostering collaboration.
