The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) is the national agency responsible for administering the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (National Scheme) in partnership with 15 National Boards for the regulated health professions. Ahpra’s overall purpose is to protect the public by regulating health practitioners efficiently and effectively in the public interest to facilitate access to safer healthcare for all the community.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief of Staff (COS) is a newly created position that will play a pivotal role in supporting the CEO and driving organisational success within a stakeholder rich and complex operating environment.
Acting as a key conduit between the CEO, Executive team, and wider organisation, the COS ensures the strategic alignment of key initiatives and priorities while working collaboratively across the organisation to enable effective information coordination and activity flow to support the CEO and the Board in delivering their strategic vision for the organisation. Ahpra is a National organisation with its head office in Melbourne. While the location of the role is flexible, regular travel to Melbourne would be required if based interstate.
About you
We are seeking a highly capable, strategic thinker with exceptional communication and collaboration skills. The ideal candidate will have worked as a trusted advisor across senior leadership teams with strong governance expertise and the ability to synthesise complex information and drive cross-functional teamwork to facilitate effective decision-making. You will be a pro-active problem-solver with exceptional stakeholder management skills and an ability to work across diverse functions, teams and stakeholders.
Your experience includes:
- Extensive experience working in a diverse and challenging organisational environment from either the public or private sectors. Experience working within a Regulatory environment or experience working alongside or within a government agency highly desirable.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills with experience collaborating with Boards, Executive teams, and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success in establishing high-trust relationships and providing timely and succinct advice on high-level issues, key organisational priorities and emerging risks and opportunities.
- Working as a trusted advisor to the CEO and executive leadership teams.
