The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health practitioners. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications, and knowledge to provide safe care are registered and are practising safely.
The Manager, Research Analytics and Insights is responsible for leading research and evaluation projects that help Ahpra understand and improve how it regulates health practitioners in Australia. The role uses advanced data analysis to support better decision-making and helps identify potential risks before they become bigger problems, with a focus on prevention and early action to protect the public and support safe healthcare.
This is a full time, ongoing role, open to candidates located in any Ahpra office location
In this role you will be expected to:
- Help to implement the research strategy and ensure that all research, evaluation, and insights work is high quality, delivered effectively, and projects align with Ahpra’s strategic goals.
- Provide expert guidance and oversight on research methodology, data analysis, data handling, research ethics, and quality checks.
- Lead efforts to strengthen the organisation’s ability to use data and research to plan ahead and identify future risks (strategic foresight).
- Work with internal teams and external partners to identify and develop important research and analytics projects, including those using AI and other advanced techniques.
- Use your strong managerial expertise to lead and manage the research team to meet goals, including supporting ongoing team development through coaching and training.

You will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Strong background in research and/or evaluation, with proven ability to apply research findings in real-world settings.
- Experience using advanced data analysis techniques.
- Skilled in writing and editing reports, policies, or similar documents.
- Good at building strong relationships with stakeholders and managing their needs, even when situations change.
- Experience leading the management of a research or technical team, especially during times of change.
- Able to clearly explain research findings and complex concepts to a variety of audiences.
- Experience with strategic planning, machine learning, or artificial intelligence in research is a plus.
