We are seeking expressions of interest from nurses and midwives to be examiners in the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) for the assessment of Internationally Qualified Nurses and Midwives (IQNM).
OSCE examiners play a vital role in the process of delivering a reliable and fair assessment process. Examiners will utilise their professional knowledge of the nature and culture of the profession to test candidate knowledge and proficiency in an exam setting.
The OSCE for IQNM is a high stakes evidence based regulatory exam set at the graduate level for nurses and midwives in Australia. It is expected that examiners participating in the exam will approach it from this high-stake standard.
Examiners may have a range of clinical experience in a variety of specialties and disciplines. Nursing, midwifery and/or health professional education experience is desirable, however not essential. Previous OSCE examination experience is also desirable, but not essential.
All examiners will be expected to undertake examiner training, which comprises both online and face to face components. This will be facilitated by Ahpra. OSCEs are scheduled periodically throughout the year and examiner attendance at each OSCE is not mandatory.
