The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications, and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.
This is an 18 month fixed term part time role (0.5 FTE). This position can be located in any Ahpra location with a preference to Melbourne, working in a hybrid arrangement.
About the role
The Board Support Officer works as part of the Psychology Policy and Project team, providing professional, informed, secretariat, governance, and associated administrative support to Psychology Board project Reference Groups and Committees.
In this role you will:
Support the effective operation of our Board and committees by coordinating meetings, managing communications, and ensuring accurate documentation. You’ll liaise with internal and external stakeholders, organise events and workshops/forums, take and distribute minutes, and maintain governance records. With a strong focus on professionalism, confidentiality, and customer service, you’ll play a key role in fostering collaborative relationships and ensuring our governance processes run smoothly and efficiently.
As the ideal candidate, you will demonstrate the following:
- Proven experience providing high-level secretariat or administrative support in a complex, fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Confidence working with senior executives, board members, and external stakeholders in a professional and respectful manner.
- Proficiency in using contemporary IT systems and platforms to manage documentation, communication, and scheduling.
- A collaborative approach with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across diverse teams.
- Sound judgement and understanding of governance, confidentiality, and probity in a regulatory or public sector context.
- A proactive and adaptable mindset, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of Ahpra’s role and the broader regulatory environment is highly regarded.
