The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) is the national agency responsible for administering the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (National Scheme) in partnership with 15 National Boards for the regulated health professions. Together, we protect the public by ensuring Australia’s registered health practitioners are suitably trained, qualified and safe to practice, facilitating access to safer healthcare for every community. With offices in each State and Territory, Ahpra represents National Scheme interests with key community, professional, employer and government stakeholders with local operations governed by the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act.

Located on land of the Gadigal peoples, the State Manager, New South Wales is responsible for leading Ahpra’s engagement and partnerships with stakeholders. The role provides an ‘on the ground’ senior presence for Ahpra to ensure their services are responsive to local needs and consistent with national policy and performance requirements. The State Manager works as part of a single network, supporting a whole of organisation approach to the delivery of Ahpra’s strategic priorities.

This will require you to:

  • Build and manage effective communication and relationships with key stakeholders, including community and professional associations, local boards & committees, employers, health services and government
  • Proactively identify and manage any risks and/or issues at the state level that will impact the delivery of the expected performance levels
  • Provide leadership for an integrated approach for all staff to build a safe, positive, engaging and inclusive workplace culture
  • Contribute operational and other insights into the ongoing development of policies, programs and service delivery improvements

You will require significant leadership and engagement experience in a health, service delivery or regulatory context with a demonstrated ability to apply legislative, policy and procedural requirements as they relate to a regulatory environment. This will be supported by relevant tertiary qualifications with prior experience in managing cross functional teams and the ability to influence indirect reports to support a high performing and positive workplace culture.
