The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.
We have a full time opportunity for an ongoing Senior Regulatory Advisor in the Registration International team. We welcome all applications from any location where we have an Ahpra presence. We will also be using this recruitment campaign to develop a merit pool for upcoming vacancies up to six months.
Reporting to the National Manager – Registration (International), the Senior Regulatory Advisor – Registration plays a pivotal leadership role within Ahpra’s registration functions. You will lead and manage teams to ensure timely, consistent and high quality processing of registration applications in alignment with the Regulatory Principles for the National Scheme, the National Law, registration standards, guidelines, and national organisational policies and procedures.
With a focus on Ahpra’s values to drive high performance, this role provides a point of escalation and technical direction and support to staff to enable performance of the team at the expected level, whilst providing operational support to the National Manager Registration about regulatory activities. This role will present matters for the stream to relevant boards and committees and guide consistent recommendations and decision making for the registration functions.
This role is ideal for a strategic thinker and proactive problem solver who thrives in a complex regulatory environment and is a passionate about leading people to deliver meaningful outcomes.
In this role you will:
- Provide exceptional people leadership and support to your team (local and virtual teams)
- Lead the registration team to ensure the registration process is handled consistently, professionally and in accordance with the National Law, registration standards, guidelines, and national organisational policies and procedures.
- Deliver consistent, authoritative and high-quality advice and recommendations to all stakeholders, specifically to registration boards and committees
- Provide expertise across a range of areas including applications for registration and renewal, endorsements and registrant management processes and interpretation of the National Law as it applies to registration, seeking legal advice on policy positions and individual matters as required.
- Actively monitor high risk and challenging registration cases, providing support and guidance to staff where required
As the ideal candidate, you will demonstrate the following:
- Significant hands on people leadership skills and experience with the ability to manage a high performing team to deliver high quality, customer focused outcomes and services
- Experience in working within a complex regulatory environment
- Exceptional interpersonal skills along with exemplary communication skills – both written and verbal
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines whilst delivering accurate outcomes
