The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.

We have an opportunity for a Business Intelligence DevOps Lead to join our team on a full-time permanent basis, located in any Ahpra office.

The Business Intelligence DevOps Lead is a key role within Ahpra's Information and Decision Enablement Services team, combining deep Power BI expertise with leadership of BI release governance and deployment practices. You will play a critical role in ensuring reports, dashboards, datasets, and analytics solutions are delivered into production safely, reliably, and in line with organisational quality, security, and compliance requirements.

Working closely with BI developers, data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders, you will drive best-practice Power BI delivery through strong governance, release management, CI/CD, and DevOps practices. Alongside leading the continuous improvement of BI deployment and assurance processes, you will provide specialist guidance on Power BI development, data modelling, performance optimisation, and delivery standards to support trusted, high-quality reporting and analytics outcomes across Ahpra.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the release, deployment, and governance of Power BI reports, dashboards, datasets, and associated BI solutions.
  • Drive the uplift of BI DevOps capability through CI/CD, automation, deployment controls, and release best practices.
  • Lead by example through hands-on Power BI development, troubleshooting complex reporting challenges and supporting delivery of high-quality analytics solutions.
  • Provide expert guidance and hands-on delivery across Power BI development, including data modelling, DAX, performance optimisation, report design and solution architecture design.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to ensure BI solutions are secure, scalable, quality assured, and production ready.
  • Champion testing, governance, documentation, and deployment standards across the BI delivery lifecycle.
  • Support the ongoing enhancement of Ahpra's reporting and analytics capability through continuous improvement and technical leadership.

About you

You are a highly skilled Power BI professional who combines hands-on technical expertise with a strong understanding of release management, deployment governance, and DevOps practices. You have experience delivering enterprise-scale Power BI solutions and are confident working across data modelling, DAX, Power Query, deployment pipelines, version control, and structured change processes.

You are equally comfortable designing and building Power BI solutions as you are governing their deployment into production. You enjoy remaining hands-on with data modelling, DAX development, report design and performance tuning while also driving release management, CI/CD and deployment standards across the BI platform.

You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy partnering with both technical and business stakeholders to deliver quality outcomes. With strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, and a passion for continuous improvement, you are motivated by building reliable, well-governed analytics solutions that enable informed decision-making and deliver lasting value to the organisation.
