The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications, and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.
This is a full time position, until 30 June 2026, based in Melbourne working in a hybrid arrangement.
About the role
The Policy and Project Officer, Medical role sits within the Strategy and Policy Directorate and supports the Medical Board of Australia (the Board) to deliver on the regulatory plan and projects for regulation of registered medical practitioners in Australia.
Reporting to the Program Manager, IMG Pathways Review, the Policy and Project Officer will support policy and project initiatives, with a focus on data analysis, evaluation, and reporting, including translating data received into reports, supporting the evaluation of the Expedited Specialist pathway, and preparing briefings for steering committees and wider audiences. The role will require developing and maintaining clear communication, and providing accurate advice on regulatory and governance matters, particularly in relation to pathways for Specialist international medical graduates (SIMGs).
About you
You will bring your experience working within the health sector, and your strong background in policy development, project delivery, data analysis, and implementation, particularly from health practice or regulation, with a clear data analysis and evaluation lens.
You are well organised, with excellent time management, stakeholder engagement, and planning skills, and a solid understanding of corporate governance and regulatory systems. You have well developed problem-solving abilities and can communicate clearly, using your exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
With a strong ability to build relationships and influence key stakeholders, you excel in collaborative environments and work effectively with others.
