The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.
Finance and Procurement contributes to this mission by leveraging data, embracing technology and enabling change. By understanding the data that is relevant to decision making and providing in depth analysis where necessary, Finance & Procurement supports the strong functioning of the Ahpra Board, Finance, Audit and Risk Management Committee, the National Executive, all fifteen National Boards and our co-regulatory partners.
As the Procurement Specialist Lead, you’ll be at the forefront of building strong supplier relationships through smart, compliant procurement practices. You won’t just manage contracts you’ll unlock their full potential, ensuring every agreement delivers maximum value and aligns with our strategic goals.
This is a full-time permanent opportunity, preferably based in our Melbourne office however applications from Brisbane and Sydney will be considered, working a hybrid (2 office days) arrangement.
In this role you will:
- Provide a customer-focused procurement service, so that Ahpra staff can effectively and efficiently procure goods and services in a way that is accountable and ensures value for money along with establishing and managing relationships with prospective vendors.
- Management of procurement and strategic sourcing of external goods and services within policy and best practice.
- Manage contracts with professional service providers, to ensure performance is measured and reported to Ahpra management.
- Lead in implementing reporting solutions and data analytics in procurement to deliver measurable cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Responsible for the strategic procurement forward plan including setting improvement targets for key areas of category spend.
As the ideal candidate, you will demonstrate the following:
- Tertiary qualification desirable that is relevant to managing procurement of goods and services
- Recent procurement knowledge (preferable in government throughout Australia)
- Demonstrated experience in procurement activities in a highly regulated environment
- Experience in procurement reporting development and data analysis
- Demonstrated experience in building and managing positive and productive relationships with senior management, staff and multiple stakeholders in a complex organisation, preferably national in scope
- Knowledge of best practice procurement principles and practices
- Well-developed interpersonal, consulting and negotiating skills including the ability to liaise and provide advice to management and staff on procurement practices and procedures.
