The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications, and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.

These are full time, ongoing positions and we will be looking to merit list for upcoming roles up to 6 months. Our preferred location for these roles are based in Perth working a hybrid arrangement within our Flexible working policy.

Reporting to the Regulatory Advisor (Team Leader), the Regulatory Officer will ensure that health practitioners, particularly Internationally qualified nurses and midwives (IQNM) are registered in line with the Regulatory Principles for the National Scheme, the National Law, registration standards, and guidelines.    

In this role you will:

  • Assess health practitioner applications in accordance with guidelines and standards for registration.
  • Respond to enquiries, manage correspondence and prepare documents as part of a case management process for complaints and compliance monitoring.
  • Provide strong customer service and an effective phone service for the public and health practitioners engaging with us.
  • Regularly communicate with external stakeholders to provide assistance, obtain information and provide informative updates.
  • Readily review and analyse documents and data to assess registration applications, support investigations and monitoring

As the ideal candidate, you will demonstrate the following:

  • Skilled at interpreting and applying standards, procedures, and policies, preferably in a regulation or education background.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with experience in dealing with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and conceptual skills, with the ability to use technology effectively to find information.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and resolve issues within established guidelines, escalating when necessary.
  • Strong organisational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines while delivering quality work as part of a team.
