Corporate Risk Manager

Job no: V14983
Work type: Fixed Term Full Time
Location: Melbourne
Categories: Corporate Risk

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications, and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.

As the Corporate Risk Manager, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening Ahpra’s enterprise‑wide approach to risk, resilience and integrity. Reporting to the National Director, Corporate Risk and Assurance, you will work closely with senior leaders across the organisation to embed contemporary, fit‑for‑purpose risk management practices that support effective decision‑making and uphold public safety.

We are seeking a Corporate Risk Manager to join our team on a full‑time, fixed‑term basis for 12 months, based in our Melbourne office.

In this high‑impact leadership role, you will lead the ongoing uplift of Ahpra’s Risk Framework while partnering with executives, National Boards and internal stakeholders to provide independent advice, insight and assurance. Your work will span strategic risk management, incident management, business continuity, insurance oversight and fraud and corruption control. You will also play a key role in strengthening governance reporting to the National Executive and the Audit and Risk Committee, contributing directly to Ahpra’s ability to operate efficiently, effectively and in alignment with regulatory expectations.

In this role, you will draw on strong technical capability, leadership experience and collaborative partnership skills to uplift Ahpra’s approach to risk, governance and organisational resilience.

You will bring:

  • Extensive experience in governance, risk and compliance across large, complex or regulated environments.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise risk frameworks, including risk appetite development, risk profiling, KRIs and high‑quality executive reporting.
  • Confidence operating in executive and board settings, with the ability to translate complex risk information into clear, actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders and build trusted, cross‑functional relationships that support effective decision‑making.
  • Experience overseeing enterprise‑wide programs such as incident management, business continuity, insurance and fraud control.
  • Strong project leadership skills, including the ability to manage complex or time‑critical initiatives and competing priorities.
  • Highly developed written and interpersonal communication skills, including experience preparing executive and board‑level governance reporting.
  • A proactive, strategic mindset with a commitment to uplifting capability, strengthening frameworks and enhancing organisational resilience.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Law, Commerce, Business Management or a related discipline (post‑graduate qualifications desirable).
