The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.

This is a full time, ongoing position and can be located in Ahpra’s Perth or Adelaide office.

About the Criminal Offences and Litigation Unit
The Criminal Offences and Litigation Unit investigates and manages offence matters under the National Law. The team works closely with legal, regulatory, and operational colleagues, as well as external agencies, to deliver high-quality, timely investigations that directly support Ahpra’s role in protecting the public.

About the role
This is an opportunity to join the team in an ongoing role as an Inspector. In this role you’ll manage your own caseload of investigations into alleged criminal offences under the National Law. You’ll plan and conduct investigations, interview witnesses and suspects, collect and assess evidence, and prepare clear reports and recommendations.

What we’re looking for
We’re seeking someone who brings strong investigation skills and the ability to manage complex and sensitive matters. You’ll need to be confident applying legislation, working with different stakeholders, and producing high-quality reports.

To be successful, you’ll ideally have:

  • A Certificate IV in Government Investigations (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience conducting criminal or regulatory investigations.
  • Skills in interviewing (witnesses and suspects) and evidence handling.
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to manage admin-heavy work, competing priorities and deadlines.
