At Ahpra, we work in partnership with 15 National Boards to protect the public by regulating registered health practitioners. We are committed to eliminating racism within healthcare and ensuring Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Peoples experience cultural safety in all interactions with the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme.
We are seeking an experienced and culturally capable leader to join our Cultural Safety team as Manager, Strategic Initiatives (Cultural Safety) in a 12 month, fixed term opportunity.
Reporting to the National Director, Health Regulation (Cultural Safety), you will lead the implementation of recommendations arising from Cultural Safety Evaluations, driving initiatives that embed cultural safety into regulatory operations and support meaningful system reform.
About the role
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who brings cultural capability, including cultural humility, the ability to build trusted relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders, and a commitment to delivering strategic projects that embed cultural safety, support self-determination, and drive meaningful organisational change. You will lead complex initiatives from planning through to delivery, establish effective governance frameworks, and build strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, senior leaders and key stakeholders.
About you
You are an experienced project, program or change leader with:
- Demonstrated experience working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Strong cultural capability and understanding of self-determination and culturally safe practice.
- Experience leading and implementing complex reform or strategic initiatives.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships and influence at executive and community levels.
- Strong project management and governance skills, with a focus on delivery and outcomes.
