The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.

Our Technology Directorate is seeking an experienced Security Operations and Platform Specialist to join our team. 

This is a full time, 12 month fixed term position, with potential for extension. We are open to applications from any location with an Ahpra office, however have a preference for Melbourne or Sydney. 

About the Role 

The role supports the Senior Security Operations and Platform Specialist in providing expertise and advice in relation to business priorities for security operations, planning and capability improvements across the business. Assess risk, conducting audits and developing mitigation strategies in relation to security risk across the business.  Expertise within this field is fundamental along with knowing when to escalate matters and providing recommendations as security risks occur. 

In this role you will: 

  • Provide SME advise, support and integrate Cyber Security Program deliverables 
  • Investigate current processes, workflow and procedures for cybersecurity 
  • Respond, investigate and monitor cyber security incidents 
  • Monitor and appraise the ever-changing cybersecurity landscape for developing/actual cybersecurity threats to Ahpra and manage the appropriate risk mitigation and defence 
  • Deliver outcomes form the security risk register to guide effective business decisions making and the implementation of adequate security risk controls. 

About you 

You will be an experienced and highly regarded as an SME in the cyber security field.  You will have exceptional, professional and customer focused interpersonal skills and able to converse with a range of stakeholders. You will also have the following: 

  • Formal qualifications or minimum of 5 years experience in IT / Security Operations 
  • Advance practitioner level using Azure Sentinel, Microsoft Defender (EDR, EOP, Cloud, Identity), Qualys, CrowdStrike, Darktrace and Delinea PAM) 
  • Expertise in building and managing AI based Security solutions / agents 
  • Experience in embedding security practices into an organisation to ensure the protection of its people, assets and information. 
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of ITIL incident, change and problem management practices. 
  • Resilient, solution focused and able to reconcile multiple perspectives 
  • Be able to support out of business hours security activities
