Senior Internal and Change Communication Partner

Job no: V15215
Work type: Fixed Term Full Time
Location: Multiple locations
Categories: Communications and Media

Every day at the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra), we work to strengthen public trust and confidence in Australia's health practitioners and improve access to safe, high-quality healthcare.

As we continue to transform how we work, we're investing in new technologies, systems and capabilities that will improve experiences for our people and stakeholders and strengthen our ability to deliver on our purpose and our new National Scheme Strategy 2031.

Communication is central to that transformation. We're looking for a Senior Internal and Change Communications Partner to bring these changes to life through engaging communication that informs, engages and supports our people every step of the way.

This is an opportunity for an experienced communicator who enjoys partnering with leaders, influencing stakeholders and challenging the status quo to help people navigate change with clarity and confidence.

As part of our Strategic Communications team, you will be part of a collaborative, skilled and high-performing team that works to build understanding, trust and engagement across the organisation.

About the role

As the Senior Internal and Change Communications Partner, you will be the communications lead for major technology and transformation programs across Ahpra.

Working closely with project teams, senior leaders, People and Culture, learning specialists and external change partners, you’ll develop and deliver communication strategies that build awareness, understanding, readiness and adoption of new technologies, systems and ways of working.

You will be a trusted advisor throughout the change lifecycle, ensuring communication is embedded from project planning through to implementation and business adoption. Importantly, you'll help translate complex change into meaningful messages that answer the questions employees care about most: What’s changing? Why does it matter? How will it affect me?

This role also offers the opportunity to help shape Ahpra's broader change communication capability by helping establish frameworks, tools, governance and best-practice approaches that support future transformation initiatives.

What you will bring

In this role, you will:

  • Partner with technology, transformation and business leaders to develop and deliver strategic communication and engagement plans that support successful change and adoption.
  • Provide trusted advice on change communication, employee engagement and stakeholder management across complex transformation initiatives.
  • Work closely with project, learning, change and People and Culture teams to deliver aligned change outcomes and manage communication risks, impacts and organisational readiness.
  • Support leaders and people managers with communication coaching, guidance and practical resources to help their teams navigate change confidently.
  • Create compelling communication campaigns and resources, including leadership messaging, presentations, toolkits, FAQs and implementation communications.
  • Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of communication activities to contribute to the continuous improvement of Ahpra's enterprise change communication and internal communications frameworks, governance and capability.

What we're looking for

You are a strategic communicator who combines strong communication expertise with a practical understanding of organisational change.

You will bring:

  • Relevant qualifications in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Significant experience delivering communication strategies for large-scale organisational change and technology transformation programs.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with senior leaders and project teams in complex environments.
  • Strong understanding of change management principles and the role communication plays in successful change adoption.
  • Experience developing communication plans, campaigns and engagement activities for enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences.
  • Strong consulting, stakeholder engagement and influencing capabilities.
  • Experience working alongside project management, learning and organisational change teams.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience using analytics and feedback to evaluate and continuously improve communication outcomes.
