The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.

We have a full time permanent opportunity available within our Service Management and Operations team, based in the Melbourne Ahpra office.

The Systems Engineer - Cloud Infrastructure is a hands-on technical role for an experienced cloud and infrastructure specialist who can confidently balance business-as-usual operations with project delivery in a large and complex environment.

Working across Azure, Microsoft 365 and hybrid infrastructure environments, you will play a key role in maintaining, optimising and modernising Ahpra's technology landscape. As a trusted technical expert, you will support cloud operations, contribute to strategic infrastructure initiatives and work collaboratively across the organisation to deliver secure, reliable and scalable technology solutions.

In this role, you will:

  • Administer and support Ahpra's Azure, Microsoft 365 and hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Manage and optimise cloud resources, identity services, networking, patching and infrastructure performance.
  • Deploy and maintain Azure infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and CI/CD practices.
  • Support cloud transformation and migration initiatives from on-premises to cloud-based platforms.
  • Provide Level 3 technical support and troubleshoot complex infrastructure and cloud-related issues.
  • Collaborate with Cyber Security, Applications, Business Support and project teams to deliver technology outcomes.
  • Contribute to infrastructure projects, solution design activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in an on-call roster to support critical business systems and services.

About you

You are an experienced infrastructure professional with strong hands-on expertise across cloud and hybrid environments. A practical and solutions-focused problem solver, you enjoy working across both operational support and project delivery, taking ownership of outcomes and contributing to continuous improvement. You build effective relationships across technical and business teams and are a confident communicator, able to tailor your approach to a range of audiences from frontline staff through to senior leaders.

You will bring:

  • Strong experience across Microsoft technologies, including Azure, Microsoft 365, Azure Local, Active Directory and Entra ID.
  • Demonstrated experience deploying, supporting and maintaining ICT infrastructure within large, complex environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure administration, cloud operations, infrastructure modernisation, and cloud migration initiatives.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), CI/CD practices, and Azure networking concepts including virtual networks, firewalls and routing.
  • Strong knowledge of patch management, vulnerability management, infrastructure security, and operational support tools for monitoring and service management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders and senior leaders; relevant Microsoft, Azure, VMware or related certifications will be highly regarded.
